April 30, 2020

The award was warmly welcomed by the Editor in Chief not only as a pride but also as additional spirit for the team especially in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic.

One of Suara.com's stories entitled "Threatened by Death Penalty, Judicial Irregularities for Mispo the Papuan Child", won an award from the Indonesian Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI Indonesia) in collaboration with UNICEF. The special news coverage from reporter Erick Tanjung and editor Reza Gunadha won the Print and Online Media categories at the 2020 Children's Issues Best Coverage Awards.

For information, awards for the print/online media, as well as television, radio and photo categories have been regularly held in recent years by AJI and UNICEF. This awards event was also held as part of the World Immunization Week celebrations organized by the Ministry of Health.

The award was warmly welcomed by the Editor in Chief of Suara.com who is also the COO of PT Arkadia Digital Media Tbk, Suwarjono. According to him, this achievement not only proves that Suara.com's contents continue to receive positive recognition, but also can also add enthusiasm in the daily work of the Jakarta-based media editorial team.

"Especially in the midst of this Corona pandemic situation, where like many other companies, since before the implementation of the PSBB in Jabodetabek we have implemented a work from home (WFH) system. So, this award has spurred us all to be even more creative, more productive, to carry out our role as the media and to give our best for the public," said Suwarjono.

Initially, AJI-UNICEF, with the support of the Indonesian Ministry of Health planned to hold an award night in a warm situation. However, due to the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, the announcement was finally delivered online after a related webinar event on Wednesday, April 29th, 2020.

In the announcement, UNICEF Indonesia's representative, Debora Comini, said that the media is an important partner for them because it has the power to raise various topics in the public sphere. "Apart from that, mass media is also important because its coverage triggers important conversations and influences positive change," she said.

For this 2020 Best Journalistic Works on Children Issues Awards, the committee stated that they have received a total of 413 stories within the four competition categories. These hundreds of works were then evaluated by a panel of jury consisting of professional practitioners, observers of children's issues, and representatives of UNICEF.

Suara.com birthday celebration with the ceremony, launching sessions and other activities was a lively and exciting event. Including when employees can also enjoy things such as quizzes and games, health discussion and free medical checks, delicious buffet, and of course an entertainment session presenting Steven & Coconut Treez band and singer Diana Dee. It was really a pleasant day.
